Number of beneficiaries:

The number of direct and indirect beneficiaries of this project, recorded in the period 2004 - 2009 is 18.984:

• 2005 – 1.856 direct beneficiaries;
• 2006 – 1.787 direct beneficiaries;
• 2007 – 2.607 direct beneficiaries;
• 2008 – 2.530 direct beneficiaries;
• 2009 – 2.537 direct beneficiaries;

Location: Iasi City

Purpose: The goal is to help those affected by alcohol and/or drugs to regain theyr physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.

We offer:

• Group therapy under the coordination of an addiction counselor and a psychologist;
• Individual counseling for any type of addiction;
• Psychological evaluation;
• Spiritual counseling;
• Therapeutic camps;
• Activities of occupational therapy and ludo – therapy;
• Social services and leisure;
• Facilitate the integration into support groups: Alcoholics Anonymous and Al-Anon, Sex Addicts Anonymous;
• Trainings for volunteers and professionals who wish to engage in our activitities;
• Theoretical presentations and information sessions;
• Public awareness of the phenomenon of dependence;
• Counseling services for dependent family members;
• Online counselling;

Results of the project in 2009:

• 1330 people from schools, colleges, parishes, penitentiary, have received information regarding alcohol / drugs consumption;
• 1,000 people benefitied from information and counseling activities developed in the Hospitals from Iasi City (Socola Hospital,"St. Spiridon" Hospital, etc.);
• 26 dependents received psychological evaluation, counselling, individual and group therapy;
• 61 codependents received psychological evaluation, counseling, individual and group therapy;
• 50 children from families with alcohol related problems benefited from counseling, ludo-therapy and occupational therapy activities;
• 30 dependents and codependents benefited from therapeutic camps;
• 40 people dependent on alcohol and other drugs, prisoners in the Iasi Maximum Security Penitentiary received psychological evaluation, counselling and individual and group therapy.

At Iasi Maximum Security Penitentiary in the period 2005-2009, a total of 214 prisoners, dependents on alcohol / drugs have benefited from:

• 400 hours of group therapy;
• 435 hours of psychological evaluation;
• 290 hours of individual counseling.

Each beneficiary received free of charge, hand-outs and different materials regarding the recovery from alcoholism.

At "Solidarity and Hope" Foundation, between 2005 and 2009, a total of 644 persons benefited from these services:

• 842 hours of psychological evaluation;
• 3.570 hours of individual counseling;
• 2.240 hours of group therapy for dependents / codependents;
• 410 hours of ludo-therapy occupational therapy.

Team members were involved in other activities such as:

• Two anti-tobacco campaigns, initiated by the National Anti-Drug Agency, with the occasion of the International Anti-Tobacco Day and that National Anti-Tobacco Day. The campaigns consisted of the following activities: information sessions in Iasi Maximum Security Penitentiary, "St. Spiridon" Hospital, Socola Hospital of Psychiatry, participation at a public debate initiated by the National Anti-Drug Agency.
• Radio and TV broadcastings at Radio Iasi, Radio Trinitas, TVR 1, TVR Iasi, Tele M;
• Publishing articles in the daily "Lumina” Newspaper;
• Praying, every Wednesday, for alcohol-dependent persons and their family members;
• Building a website for information on services and opportunities created through the “St. Nicholas” Center www.centrulsfnicolae.mmb.ro
• Resumption and maintenance of email correspondence with potential beneficiaries of the “St. Nicholas” Center services, through the address centrulsfnicolae@yahoo.com;

For the direct beneficiaries of project impact will consist of:

• Increased level of information in terms of causes, effects, risks, knowledge of medical and social effects of alcohol;
• Decreased consumption of alcohol abuse;
• Decreased family violence;
• Improving living conditions;
• Increased degree of socialization and social integration.
